As the finalists gear up for the Dancing With the Stars Season 34 finale, rehearsals are getting more intense — and more unpredictable. As one of the remaining couples, Robert Irwin and Witney Carson are deep in rehearsal mode polishing lifts, tightening footwork and, in some cases, pushing themselves a little harder than planned. The duo had quite the week, and fans just got a behind-the-scenes look at their unexpected rehearsal moment.
“Freestyle incoming,” Irwin, 21, shared on his Instagram Stories over a picture of he, Carson, 32, and some of the DWTS troupe preparing for one of their finale dances. In the next clip, Carson is seen scratching her head and walking off the dance floor to place part of her hair on the judges’ table.
“Soooo…accidentally tore Witney’s hair out during a trick in our freestyle rehearsal,” the wildlife conservationist shared with a grimacing emoji. Aside from missing some of her locks, Carson appears to be physically fine on all accounts. Fans grabbed the footage and shared it on Reddit.
“At this to the list with Dylan’s broken nose,” said one commenter, referencing Dylan Efron‘s injury caused by Daniella Karagach earlier this season.
“I mean this takes leaving it all on the dance floor to a whole new level,” another Redditor said in a separate thread. “He must’ve felt so bad, and it must’ve been so painful for her. Poor Witney! Imagine that much hair being ripped of off your head.”
“Hopefully every hardship will pay off on Tuesday,” they concluded.
Now, fans are expecting a “wild” routine. Some are even saying their freestyle dance is going to be “insane.”
In clips from Carson’s Instagram Stories, she posted a bit more of a sneak peek of some of their moves, including one she captioned: “Showing Robert how to be lifted.” It looks like their freestyle dance will include another epic flip, but only time will tell.
In another still shot, Carson appears smiling with Irwin holding up her ripped out hair.
“Well this happened,” the DWTS pro wrote. “And yes that’s my real hair ripped out of my scalp.”
Another closeup shot shows the “chunk” of hair.
“Blood, sweat, and hair went in to this freestyle,” Carson added.
