From the kitchen to her New York debut stage, musical theatre performer Sydnie Christmas has shown why she is one of the UK’s brightest talents.
Before winning ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2024, Sydnie had already been sharing performances online, including a kitchen rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”
In that informal setting, she effortlessly captured the song’s sultry tone, showcasing a resonance in her chest voice that reminded some fans of Barbra Streisand.
Fans quickly took notice of her remarkable talent. Comments flooded in online: “Fantastic. Not since Streisand have I heard that amount of resonance in a chest voice. Simply beautiful.” Another wrote, “She even sounds great in the kitchen! Best of luck to you. Congrats on winning BGT!”

Several others expressed amazement at her control and power, noting, “Whoah, first person I’ve ever heard that can pull off Whitney perfectly, well done,” and “Just come across this performance—totally mind-blowing.”
Following her BGT victory, Sydnie continued to impress audiences, culminating in her first American headlining show at Sony Hall in New York City on April 8, 2025. Joined by legendary producer David Foster, she performed “I Have Nothing” once again, this time with full orchestration and the kind of stage presence only experience can provide.
Her ability to channel Whitney Houston while still making the song her own earned enthusiastic praise from fans, with one remarking, “Amazing, truly amazing, a performance so true to the Whitney Houston version, and I just smiled and was happy.”
The kitchen-to-stage journey highlighted her development as an artist. Fans who had followed her for years were thrilled to see her growth. “Syd has evolved as a person and performer over time. The transformation is stunning! I like who she has become. Syd is filled with gratitude and acknowledges her gifts with wonderful energy and caring for others,” wrote one admirer.

Another reflected on discovering her talent online: “I will always remember 2024 as the year I found you on YouTube! What a discovery… YOU ARE AMAZINGLY AWESOME!”
Despite the fame, Sydnie has remained grounded. In October 2025, she addressed fans who were concerned about her health after noticing her natural appearance in social media videos. She explained, “Guys, I just haven’t got any makeup on. I’m just rocking what my mother gave me in that moment in time. I’m fine, I am completely fine!” She emphasized that her natural look should not be mistaken for fatigue or illness, reassuring her 200,000 followers that she is in good health.

Since her win, Sydnie has released her album My Way, performed for King Charles at the Royal Variety Performance, and collaborated with international stars including Michael Bublé and Jennifer Hudson. Over the summer, she played Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians: The Musical, further cementing her reputation as a versatile musical theatre performer. Despite these high-profile moments, she maintains perspective. “I don’t get noticed, ever. I get on the Tube and no one bats an eyelid. I’m not that famous! …Everyone recognised them [her friends], but not me. They thought that I was their manager,” she shared.

Fans continue to celebrate her talent and potential. Comments on social media reflect the widespread admiration: “Two of the best singers today,” “Girl, I want a 2024 version!! You are literally AMAZING,” and “If anyone’s ever had ‘BROADWAY’ written all over them, it is Sydnie. She’s as much of an actress as she is a wonderful singer and engages her audience on every level. Mark my word, BROADWAY BOUND!!”
From performing in her kitchen to commanding a stage in New York, Sydnie Christmas has proven that her talent is undeniable. With her BGT win, growing fanbase, and plans for future albums and performances, she is poised for a remarkable career in musical theatre and beyond.
