Celine Dion Ready to Love Again After Losing Husband Rene Angelil: ‘It’s Time’
Céline Dion has settled on a New Year’s resolution.
A source tells Examiner that the “My Heart Will Go On” singer, 57, wants to find love again in 2026, which will mark the 10th anniversary of her late husband René Angélil’s passing. The couple were married for 22 years and shared three sons — René-Charles, 24, and 14-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy — before the music producer, 73, lost his battle with throat cancer in 2016.
“Céline’s boys will always be her first priority, and no matter what happens, the memory of Rene and their legacy together will loom large in her day-to-day-life,” insists the source. “But she feels strongly it’s time to allow a relationship in again. She knows René would want her to be happy and totally fulfilled.”
Another reason Dion is determined to re-enter the dating scene? In 2022, the five-time Grammy winner received a life-altering diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, a debilitating neurological disorder for which there is no known cure. However, she has learned to live with the condition. In a 2024 interview with Vogue France, Dion revealed that she undergoes athletic, physical and vocal therapy five days a week to help manage the symptoms.
“Céline’s finally feeling like herself again,” says the source. “Her health is so much better than it was. She says she’s been given another chance at life and she wants to live it full tilt.”
On Saturday, October 4, Dion enjoyed a rare night out with her sons at a Paul McCartney concert in Las Vegas, clapping along as the Beatles legend, 83, wowed the crowd at Allegiant Stadium with the band’s catalog of hits.
“Everyone was saying how great she looked,” shares the source, adding that the outing wasn’t a one-off either. “Céline’s started accepting all sorts of invites. She’s finally able to have a social life again and she’s thrilled.”
There’s just one thing missing, though.
“Céline’s got a very full life with lots of love in it, but she admits it would be wonderful to have a partner again,” says the source. “And she’s ready to start the search!”
