Team Snoop’s finalist Ralph Edwards delivered what many viewers are calling the strongest performance of the night during The Voice Season 28 live finale, commanding the stage with a powerful and emotional cover of Foreigner’s classic hit “I Want to Know What Love Is.” The performance drew immediate praise from coaches and fans alike, with Snoop Dogg declaring Edwards a true superstar in the making.
Edwards, 30, took on the iconic ballad as his classic song choice during Night 1 of the finale, following an earlier performance of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven.” While both performances showcased his versatility, it was his soaring vocals and emotional control on the Foreigner cover that set him apart, earning some of the loudest reactions of the night.
“Complete package right there,” Snoop said during the live show. “To see you sing across genres, to dance, to perform, and to step fully into who you’re meant to be—that’s special.”
Speaking ahead of the finale, Snoop shared just how meaningful the moment was, not only because of the holiday season, but because of Edwards’ long and determined journey to the show. After auditioning for The Voice 11 times and being turned away each time, Edwards finally broke through on his 12th attempt.
“It feels like the 12th day of Christmas,” Snoop said. “Ralph persevered and pushed through. This moment feels like it’s for him more than anything.”
That perseverance has defined Edwards’ entire run on Season 28. The Fresno, California native made an immediate impression during the Blind Auditions with a four-chair turn after performing Journey’s “Lights,” ultimately choosing Team Snoop over offers from Niall Horan, Michael Bublé, and Reba McEntire. From there, he continued to build momentum—winning the Battle Rounds, Knockouts, and ultimately earning his place in the finale with a stirring rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song for You.”
Snoop revealed that Edwards stood out from the very beginning. “I saw a superstar in him from the moment he started singing,” he said, noting that even fellow coach Michael Bublé recognized Edwards’ star power early on—something rarely seen between competing teams.
Outside the show, Edwards has been immersed in music since childhood, starting to sing at just three years old. He currently fronts the Fresno-based band Vibe Check, which has built a strong local following and even opened for Ludacris. Each performance, he says, brought him one step closer to his dream.
Win or lose, Edwards remains grateful for the journey. “It’s a dream come true to be this far,” he shared after securing his place in the finale. “I’m getting yeses—and I don’t know what to do with them anymore.”
